04/04/2024: Review of Caffè Aragno
The Gran Caffè Aragno is a historic bar in Mondovì, which offers an obligatory stop for lovers of good living. Founded in 1929, this bar is located in a strategic position in the Breo district, a crossroads of city life and the fulcrum of a lively social life, nestled among the shops and along the lively promenade of Corso Statuto.
The versatility of the Aragno is manifested in its ability to accommodate a varied clientele, always guaranteeing a place, both on quiet summer afternoons and on frenetic weekend evenings. The environment, which extends from the internal tables, wrapped in a peaceful atmosphere, to the external ones, positioned under the porticoes, reflects the versatility of the restaurant's offering.
The Aragno menu is a journey through a symphony of flavours: from coffee to desserts, from ice cream to fruit, without forgetting the wide selection of aperitifs and the restaurant's culinary offering, all enriched by special events that make the bar a center of cultural and social vitality.
An emblematic episode of mine at this bar was my meeting with Atul, an Indian talent who crossed borders to play chess with me. Our match, hosted on a raised table and soon surrounded by an audience of passionate and curious young people, testified to the bar's ability to become an arena for cultural exchanges and to promote sociality, while contributing to the local economy.
The management of the restaurant, which has passed over time to different managements, is now entrusted to expert hands who bring the flavors and colors of Neapolitan cuisine, enriching the offer with a touch of southern authenticity.
The staff, professional, kind and patient, deserve a special mention.
The historical link between the bar and the world of chess is curious: until 2005, under the presidency of Osvaldo Borsarelli, the Gran Caffè Aragno hosted the headquarters of the chess club, keeping this tradition alive to this day.
Despite the slightly higher than average price, justified by the central location, and the small size of the toilets, the Gran Caffè Aragno represents a pillar of life in Mondovì, a place where history, culture and gastronomy come together in good harmony.
Open from dawn until midnight, the Gran Caffè Aragno invites you to moments of pure conviviality, culture and relaxation, proving to be an essential destination for anyone in Mondovì.
Thanks for the hospitality.
Good continuation and good work.
