01/04/2024: good food, very polite and kind staff.. my review is negative as I called this morning and I was answered in a very rude and unpolite way.. he asked me how many of us there are and I said two of us with a small child. and he replied to me then there are three of you yes of course I just told you .. if you want you can sit outside in the cold I reply no I have a small daughter and he replies I don't have children it's not my problem .. I wanted to tell you dear sir that you he's very rude and disrespectful, next time go and talk to your sister like that.. and please don't answer because otherwise I'll come and tell you these things at the restaurant 😡

01/04/2024: A slightly run-down tavern. In my opinion, the cuisine is not up to the expected quality. The garnishes with tuna were a little salty, with a stringy tuna that didn't mix well with the rest of the sauce. The fettuccine with chicken ragù was equally savory. In the appetizer, poached egg with asparagus cream, the ingredients were paired without great skill. Dish to forget. The beef was accompanied by completely burnt roast potatoes. Prices normal. Quick and courteous service.

05/04/2024: My wife and I came to use a wonderbox that was about to expire, fortunately the owner accepted the voucher even though she was no longer included in the wonderbox program. We ate a platter of really excellent cold cuts with fantastic onions, the wine in the glass was very good Lambrusco, then we had two risottos alla pilota and... Fantastic! I was curious to try real pilot rice, coming from the typical creamed risotto of Verona, and I was surprised at how good it was. Finally we had two really good desserts (outside the wonderbox): Belgian chocolate pudding and Elvezia cake. Both amazing, we split them up to taste them and so we finished on a high note. As you have understood, the experience was more than positive, if we pass through Mantua again we will certainly return, because the rest of the menu was very interesting and the rustic and hospitable environment was very welcoming. I highly recommend everyone to go there if you are passing through, we will certainly be back.
02/04/2024: Unfortunately, the waitress didn't feel like serving us 1 hour before closing time, even though tables were free and other people were still at Primi Piatti. We were immediately given a business card from another restaurant, even though we were really looking forward to visiting the restaurant. Very unfortunate.

04/04/2024: My partner and I went here for lunch on a Thursday.
The waiter gave us the à la carte menu without mentioning the fixed price menu. After hearing that there was also a minus on the day we opted for that and it was proposed and served to us without any problem. And so far not bad. At the end of lunch we went to the cash register, where the lady present rudely asked us if we were workers. Given our negative response, the same annoyed woman pointed out to us, which we don't understand, that the menu of the work day (according to her) was only for workers as they had special conventions (I don't know which ones but whatever).
Annoyed, she still made us pay for the fixed price menu.
Friendliness and respect for the customer were certainly not at home. Unfortunately this experience will not make us return to this place again.
02/04/2024: We had lunch on Easter Sunday, and it was a FANTASTIC experience:
- kind welcome from the owner, who was able to describe each dish with care and passion
- cozy environment, with few tables, but very nice and quiet, ideal for couples
- first course we chose: Mantuan rice and bitter tortelli, both excellent
- second course: Mantuan stew with polenta, soft and delicious
- equally delicious homemade desserts
VERY AFFORDABLE prices, you won't find other places in Mantua where you can enjoy excellent first courses for €9 and equally delicious second courses for €12.
Tip: BOOK, there are few tables.

07/04/2024: The only flaw is that after an excellent dinner they don't make coffee. Excellent cuisine, excellent venue, excellent cleanliness, excellent hospitality.
29/03/2024: The place would have great potential because the environment is welcoming. The flaws are the somewhat confusing and careless welcome for the guest and the poorly prepared and very touristy execution of the dishes. I recommend not writing "ancient tavern" because it doesn't have much that is ancient and traditional given the lack of care and translation of the dishes.

01/04/2024: Easter Monday lunch.
Plate of ravioli (8 to be precise and still nothing exceptional) with parmesan cream at €18 (€2.25 per ravioli) seems like a steal to me. As well as a cover charge for €4, a portion of baked potatoes (meager) for €8. Pizza not to be repeated. Staff disinterested in the customer. Let's not talk about the bathrooms located in the cellars with steep stairs, certainly not suitable for people with walking difficulties. Experience to be erased.

23/03/2024: The typical stuffed pasta is delicious, try the agnoli in broth with Lambrusco.
I appreciated their version of sbrisolona and the impeccable service.
The only flaw is the location a little out of the way from the centre.
20/03/2024: Refined atmosphere and very courteous staff. The food was good and, apart from the ravioli which were rather small in portion size, everything was much appreciated.
Sophisticated choices of particular and pleasant combinations.
Several parking options nearby.
Adequate prices.

04/04/2024: For the type of restaurant, and the position where it is located, it represents the best in the square... in short, if you want to eat Mantovano, you have to try it to believe it!
28/03/2024: Excellent quality of the raw material. Exquisite and abundant dishes. The staff is very friendly and helpful. The only downside is the location: a little neglected, visibly not renovated recently but it has great potential, a little would be enough.

05/04/2024: Maybe I'm just a naive tourist, but I can't understand all the bad reviews. The minced meat platter with various sausages and cheese products were all very good and tasted fresh and two adults and a child were fed up with it. I think the price for the record (25€) is due to the location. To the Italian reviewers: If you have much better products at home, then eat there and don't lower the ratings of restaurants in touristy places. The only point deduction is for the toilet: it is more of an “adventure” than a clean and quiet place.
01/04/2024: My boyfriend and I went to this place to have lunch, before the drinks even arrived, my boyfriend got a lot of pigeon droppings on him (head and clothes), I got some splashes, so I guess they ended up too in drinks. At this the girl who was serving us sees and wants to make us move from the table, but for obvious reasons my boyfriend and I decide to go home since we (especially him) couldn't go around looking like this, since immediately afterwards we would have had a I commit. So I ask the waitress to kindly cancel the order, but she says it's not possible, I reply that he couldn't stay until the evening and that we had to go. In the end I had to pay for everything even though we hadn't consumed anything, not even the drinks that had just arrived (the food hadn't arrived yet), they didn't even try to accommodate us, perhaps only making us pay for the two drinks that arrived at the table or not I know, I honestly wouldn't have even charged for those since some splashes of excrement will probably have ended up in the glasses too, but we certainly didn't expect to have to pay €52 for having sat at the table for maybe 5 minutes and then left.

01/04/2024: The color orange reigns supreme in this secluded place. And then photos, books, bottles and a lot of life lived! The food is a treat and the welcome is informal and polite! A beautiful discovery!
24/03/2024: High prices for the quality offered... €20 for a dry and burnt sandwich accompanied by burnt fried vegetables. Also unfriendly service and broken chairs. A positive point is instead for the appetizer based on pumpkin cream and taralli.

30/03/2024: Stopover during a trip between Rimini and Madonna di Campiglio, it was certainly a pleasant discovery! Fascinating location on the outside and welcoming on the inside, superlative staff... welcoming, fun and helpful, food for refined palates: we had dinner with an excellent fried gnocco and cured meats and soft risotto with Lambrusco and pastured pork belly, well balanced and tasty . I also heard the risotto alla pilota and the rib-eye, taken by other people at the table, were excellent! Well done guys, keep it up!
