BACKGROUND:
The palace was built at the behest of the Paternò Castello family of the princes of Bìscari. The oldest part of the palace was built at the behest of Ignazio, III prince of Biscari, who entrusted the project to the architect Alonzo Di Benedetto, but it was Ignazio's son, Vincenzo, who succeeded his father in 1699, who commissioned the decoration of the seven splendid large windows overlooking the Marina, the work of the Messina sculptor Antonino Amato.

Thank you Chiara our guide in French, essential to understand the whole history and observe all the details of the architecture and furnishings.
Not expensive given the explanations, she advised us to go up to Santa Agatha, the visit to which costs almost as much without explanations.

Palazzo Biscari represents an unmissable destination in Catania. Splendid testimony of Sicilian Baroque, it contains within it a staircase judged among the 10 most beautiful in the world.
Furthermore, the owner of the building is a kind, friendly and helpful person.
I would like to encourage this heritage to be valued and made known to all future generations.

Stunning palace, worth seeing given the importance of the prince of Biscari. Closed on Thursdays, guided tours only in the morning 10-11-12 in different languages. It's a shame that the visit only lasts 30 minutes (with the owner a little longer but he prefers to follow the French who are very popular in Catania and goes by feeling at the moment). With everything there is, we could talk for 3 hours.
