Excellent place, excellent ham.

The environment is simple and furnished without catching the eye. But in the end the most important thing is the food and from this point of view the dinner was fully satisfactory. The San Daniele ham appetizer is a must and the quality of the product is of an absolute level. On the advice of people who have already come, I took the Al Portonat tagliolini and I feel obliged to thank them. The tagliolini are seasoned with a milk sauce and filled with tiny cubes of San Daniele ham. All accompanied by a sprinkle of black pepper. A mouth-watering dish. I finished with a slivovitz gubana. Excellent although the slivovitz is quite strong and it was a fight with the sweet taste to see who prevailed. Perhaps a drop less would make the dish more balanced. I would add that the three of us shared half a liter of merlot and I also had a coffee. The bill of 32.5 euros is perfectly centered. I really think I'll go back.

We visited with friends from nearby Pagnacco and were treated to a very fine evening. of sampling the offerings of this quaint establishment. The The tasty cheeses and the reason we came, the Prosciutto San Daniele, were indeed splendid. The Tortelli, Tagliolini and Orzotto were perfectly prepared to our tastes and of course the Panna Cotta and Tartufo were the perfect finale. A nice selection of wines from Friuli added to our enjoyment as did the friendly, attentive service.

Conosco questo posto da molti anni...quasi dalla sua apertura. Ci sono ritornato sabato scorso in orario di pranzo senza avere prenotato, eravamo in due...la nostra intenzione era quella di fare una degustazione di prosciutto e poco più...quindi una cosa rapida. Appena entrati vedo la proprietaria Alessandra che esce dalla cucina e le chiedo se possiamo fermarci per mangiare qualcosa...risposta seccata..."no! non è possibile! "...ci siamo girati e siamo usciti senza dire nulla. Capisco che non avevo prenotato ma essere scortesi con chi chiede gentilmente non è ammissibile...siamo andati in un altra trattoria nelle vicinanze dove non ero mai stato, locale pieno ma con molta gentilezza ci hanno accolti e fatti accomodare, abbiamo mangiato molto bene... Ecco come si fa a perdere dei clienti e come si fa a guadagnarne di nuovi. Il Portonat esce dalla mia agenda entra invece l'osteria di Tancredi a San Daniele del Friuli posto molto carino, curato, gestito da persone sorridenti e gentili.
