Yesterday for Easter, by chance, my two friends and I happened upon this place for lunch.... we had a very good time, excellent service, excellent food and good service.

We came across it by chance after visiting the exhibition at the San Domenico Museum. Traditional tavern, with a genuine atmosphere and very tasty typical dishes of Romagna cuisine. The staff is friendly and helpful and the service is fast. I advise!

We ended up in Forlì on a late winter Sunday to visit an exhibition at the S. Domenico Civic Museum. Upon leaving we found this informal and somewhat old-fashioned place where we were welcomed very well and with very attentive service. We opted for strozzapreti as a first course, with different condiments, and found them homemade and tasty. On the second course we split, I opting for a Marche-style porchetta with a side of baked potatoes and the other diner for a lighter cut of chicken with grilled vegetables. Both dishes were very filling and tasty, I struggled to finish mine and left some on the side. I didn't have dessert and I tasted a bit of other people's creme brulee. It seemed delicate and once again abundant. In the end I count just over €50, I would say more than honest. Great place to return.

Excellent tavern in Forlì. On the occasion of a friend of mine's graduation we had lunch in this typical place. Really very good cured meats and family hospitality. I'll come back.

Old-time environment, with traditional objects and where imperfection reigns... but in a good way! Even the dishes on the menu or on the menu of the day recall atmospheres that no longer exist: fried and stewed frogs, tripe baked in foil, spring onions in bacon... all good and with the very helpful presence of the head nurse. A beautiful discovery that I didn't yet know about even though I was from Forlì.

Capitati per curiosità, ci siamo trovati a verificare un locale superiore alle aspettative, ma non ai desideri! Il locale si presenta come una autentica osteria, ravvivata da simpatici accorgimenti che alla tradizione legano la modernità. La prima saletta, col classico banco, è arricchita da una discreta quantità di bottiglie interessanti e da una pratica parete con rubinetti a spina, da cui poter mescere vini di buona qualità, in discreta quantità. Le sale a seguire sono per la consumazione. Molto simpatiche e accoglienti. Il menù è ricco senza essere esageratamente carico. Questo permette evidentemente una cura dei piatti personalizzata. OLtre al menù alla carta, alla parete è esposta anche un elenco dei cibi fuori menù, molto interessante. Abbiamo optato, essendo sera, per primi e dolce. Cappellacci verdi con ripieno al raviggiolo e noci, su burro fuso e fossa, per uno di noi mentre l'altro ha ordinato ravioli con ripieno di baccalà in salsa verde. Veramente ottimi e inaspettati entrambe i piatti che erano stati preceduti da crostini alla toscana di benvenuto. Vino:Sangiovese superiore.Come dolce abbiamo optato per una crema catalana, veramente gustosa, e una crostata di mele, con composta di mele fresca e fettine a guarnire, ottima. Insieme, abbiamo chiesto un caffè d'orzo per accompagnare i dolci. Il servizio svolto con cortesia e cordialità , e nonostante il locale fosse pieno, ma con ampio spazio per la giusta privacy, veloce ed efficiente. 46 euro il costo più che onesto per una piacevolissima serata! Da ritornare a provare ipiatti tradizionali e garbatamente rivisitati.

Semplice. E come spesso accade la semplicità è vincente. Buoni piatti, buona accoglienza, locale semplice pulito accogliente. Ho risentito profumi vissuti 40 anni fa qui a Forlì. S' ciao giovinezza!

OSTERIA DEL GRILLO dal 1988

04/03/2024: I've been to this place several times, I've tried practically every dish on the menu and off-menu seasonal items, and it has now become the place we go to every time we need to refresh ourselves a bit. Family atmosphere, quiet and welcoming, suitable for those who are not in a hurry and want to spend an evening without too many worries. The food is excellent, all handmade and freshly made, which sometimes requires long waiting times due to cooking, but the quality is evident. As a Tuscan I can without a doubt say that if I want to eat meat as God commands, I have to come here! The maturation and cooking are perfect, without obviously talking about the quality/price ratio, unbeatable in the area. The desserts are the icing on the cake, all handmade directly by the owner. In short... what else can I say... I recommend it!
04/03/2024: I feel somewhat embarrassed in having to express an opinion contrary to the vast majority of reviewers. First opportunity to visit Grillo, deliberate choice of simple dishes, three first courses, including the classic "Tagliatella al ragù", mixed grill and side dishes. I don't want to evaluate the dishes as such, but to highlight the value for money which I believe overall is not "in line". I ate a lot of "Tagliatelle al ragù" even much more expensive than the €12.00 paid for the one consumed and leaving aside that it was also a little over cooked, honestly in my/our opinion they are not worth the expense. The same goes for the mixed grilled meat (served in 3 different varieties) a little dry and also small in portion (but this is subjective). So considering the informal Osteria environment, served on a straw paper placemat and paper napkin with attached place setting from €2.50 well..... Of course, a manager is completely free to charge the prices he deems appropriate and then it's up to everyone to decide whether the cost for a dish is justified or not. Perhaps in this case (but unfortunately like many others) the philosophy of the Osteria is not actually present. I highlight the service of the waiters: friendly, prepared and present, in any case the informality should be noted; the waiter was dressed in a sweatshirt and tracksuit. Maybe we caught the evening NO, it fits, but we will be back for other dishes.
