Stumbled across this gem en route from Sicily to Puglia. Food and service were absolutely outstanding: beet carpaccio, octopus ragout,
selection of local salumi just fantastic. Highly recommend!!
The environment, elegant and at the same time warm and welcoming, offers a unique experience that transports diners to a secluded and refined place. The food reaches a superlative level, excelling not only in the quality of the ingredients but also in the art of preparation, in the innovative combination of flavors and in the care of the plating. It certainly deserves compliments for its high culinary standard and inviting atmosphere.
It was both of our last evenings in Calabria at the end of September, so we spent the night in Lamezia to catch the early flight. Not a promising area, but we were hungry and the good reviews led us to Fermino. Thank Bacchus and all the other Italian gods, they couldn't have guided us better! The reception and service (and the chef) were warm but unobtrusive, the dishes were all so excellent that I wouldn't want to highlight any of them, the cheap wine we chose was so good that we had to order a second bottle against all common sense. We have no regrets, we'll be back (and again, and again...).
A lovely setting with delicious food of the region. Fusilloni with octopus and swordfish, black pork Ragu with fettuccine, shared a caramel mousse, pictured. We ate outside in the enclosed patio but the main dining room was very nice. Definitely recommend this.
