We went to eat at La Taverna and toured around the hotel without staying overnight. Very beautiful and well-kept area with comfortable and well-kept parking. It also has a charger for electric car models!
Unfortunately no chance of even getting a snack. I actually wanted to buy a lot of my favorite wine here. But we were extremely hungry and had to buy something to eat.
La Sala dei Grappoli is a Michelin-star restaurant at Castello Banfi. We had a seven-course tasting menu (plus amuse-bouche and additional sweets at the end of the meal) matched with seven wines (plus sparkling wine to start). The dishes were creative and the wines superb. I was particularly impressed with a "peanut" made out of mortedella and "chestnut" made from chopped chicken liver at the start! The variety of seafood and meat dishes that followed were all excellent. Considering the level of service, food and wine, I would even consider La Sala dei Grappoli a great value too!
One star NOT!.The Michelin people are so inconsistent. This place is just a Restaurent brandishing to be punching higher than it is capable of. Beautiful grounds. The castle Spectacular at night. The highlight of the meal was bread, the best I have had in Italy. Of cource Brunello Poggio Allemura 2010 (94) but that is not their doing. The lamb was acceptable. Asked for Caesars Salad , got bits of lettuce. They did not know how to make it! Just say so. Then they had the gall to charge it !On the positive side asked for Butter, they did not have it, the chef churned it fresh. Appreciate that.Very pleasant staff ,mostly in agreement with me. This star is the most misleading there could be.I need food today that is palatable!
