Caffè degli Specchi has a prime spot on the impressive Unity of Italy Square, at first glance you would think it is a tourist trap but for it's location, service and for the great breakfast I had it is more than reasonably priced.

Historic place in Trieste, magnificent square and with the sea to the side. Worth a stop. Very friendly staff, excellent cream and the small glass of chocolate before the coffee… a real treat!

Historic café in Trieste with wonderful frescoes and furnishings located in the largest square in Europe overlooking the sea. Creamy espresso coffee served with a glass of hot chocolate to sip, as Marily recommended, before the coffee! Croissants filled with cream: every bite until the end, a delight! Vast assortment of fresh pastries, a real treat! I seriously thought about moving to Trieste.. 🤩

I think this terrace is mentioned in all the booklets and guides, so everyone and their mother must have sat here. A lot more expensive because of the location and all the people with expensive brands... Funny to have sat there once, but too much hot air for me. Elsewhere in the city you can have a better, more pleasant and, above all, cheaper lunch.

…Trieste!!…Piazza Unita d’Italia!!…si può prendere un caffè!!..sì sicuramente!!…al “Caffè degli Specchi”!!…e qui il caffè costa solamente un euro!!…e prima ti viene servita la cioccolata in un bicchierino!!…tantissimi posti a sedere all’aperto e anche all’esterno!!…ma abbastanza caotico come ambiente!!…con personale disponibile e gentile!!…ma solo per prendere...
