19/05/2024: The story behind Osteria Maccalè is already a good reason to take a trip to San Giovanni delle Contee. But then, once welcomed, delighted by so much goodness, confirmation arrives that the choice is the right one.
Meanwhile, the food: simple and tasty, plentiful, good, pleasant. I don't know which adjective to choose.
Let's continue with those who welcomed us: One smile after another and a lot of kindness. I truly felt like I was among friends.
Finally, the restaurant: simple, well furnished and truly pleasant.
What else to say? We have to come back!
30/04/2024: We are 4 Venetian friends who with our scuter found this tavern by chance but I must say that chance took us to a wonderful place where we found local food cooked following local recipes, everything was delicious, Tiziana's kindness was special, I recommend this tavern to anyone who passes through those parts

19/05/2024: We had dinner last night in this restaurant/trattoria and were pleasantly satisfied with both the quality of the food and the price/quality ratio. The meat was delicious. I recommend the really tasty grilled meat. The home-made vegetables are truly delicious as is the focaccia.
10/05/2024: Typical Tuscan farmhouse. Excellent quality products at Km0 or from local producers. The lavender dessert is extraordinary... Kind owners who are passionate about their work and their land. Good value for money.

We had a simple pasta dish and wild boar. Followed by a truffle dessert. All totally faultless and beautiful to look at and to taste.

29/05/2024: This establishment is linked to the Hotel della Fortezza. A restaurant that is a little cold in its decorum. In such a village one would expect something more authentic perhaps. The cuisine is OK, but nothing seemed transcendent to us. The wine list prices are quite high. All in all, we were left wanting more, figuratively speaking. Perhaps a little pretentious and average value for money. The location of the establishment is excellent, offering a magnificent panorama of the countryside on one side and the castle on the other.
22/05/2024: The food is very good, I have been there both in the summer with the outdoor tables and the location is very pretty, and in the winter inside the place is very welcoming but unfortunately there is a big rumble with the chatter of the customers making such a noise that It's then difficult to chat with whoever you're at the table with. So I prefer to go there in the summer because this problem doesn't exist outdoors

09/01/2024: Agriturismo pazzesco. Cibo a km 0 ottimo, porzioni generose e tanta cortesia.
E anche il conto è stato una piacevole sorpresa. anche come alloggio, davvero niente da dire: puliti e, avendo 3 figli... anche la presenza di tanti animali è un plus considerevole!

23/03/2024: In questo delizioso paese si può godere di un'enoteca con i piatti di una volta, della cucina contadina, ormai difficili da trovare e soprattutto da trovare cucinati bene. La scelta è volutamente limitata perché si predilige la qualità. Abbiamo preso un ottimo tagliere di formaggi, bruschette all'olio evo, cavolo nero e topinambur e infine due eccellenti zuppe, una al pomodoro ed una ribollita. Alla apparente semplicità si accompagna la raffinatezza della scelta dei prodotti (lo stracchino era superlativo), persino nell'offerta del caffè per il quale è possibile scegliere tra due miscele diverse. Buono anche il vino sfuso.
E non per ultimo da menzionare la gentilezza dei proprietari ed il conto, adeguato e non caro.
Bella scelta di vini da portare a casa.
14/03/2024: Ma che meraviglia, qualità, scelta, atmosfera, simpatia, piatti home made fantstici, prezzi giusti. I proprietari, Stefania e Vittorio, sono due persone indimenticabili.
