22/05/2024: I rarely write reviews but WOW, I really had to with THIS!!
Me and my husband were driving through mandello de lario and stopped for lunch here - they were very welcoming and the place was really cosy and atmospheric. The pizza and the homemade tiramisu was to die for, the best we had on our trip.
If you are in the area I strongly suggest you pay a visit, as it made our day!!!

16/05/2024: A wonderful place, quintessential Italian. Nice service and great pizza. A place that is a must-visit. The decor may not be modern, but it adds charm. Very nice staff who only speaks Italian. I recommend!!!

29/02/2024: Five well-deserved stars for this splendid place, we celebrated a friend's birthday, the waitress was kind and knowledgeable, excellent cuisine, the Lavarello ravioli were wonderful.
What to say? I will definitely return, a culinary experience that I recommend to everyone.
Prices are appropriate to the raw material offered. I thank all the staff of Sali e Tabacchi. See you soon 👍❤️

I've been back lately and the quality has actually improved.
We ate very well and the dining room staff were very kind and smiling, we found ourselves even better than last time and I rated 15 stars overall for the notable improvements.
We will return in good weather.
Many compliments also to the Chef for his mastery in cooking the fish.

12/05/2024: Questo ristorante ha una ottima location, ha un ampio berso’ esterno che ospita diversi tavoli al coperto dal sole. Si affaccia come da foto direttamente sul lago di Como.
Purtroppo, sebbene il personale sia molto cortese e disponibile, non mi hanno soddisfatto i piatti. Non mi è piaciuto il salmì di cervo poiché mi è risultato troppo saporito, in parte fastidioso, questo sapore non è sapore di cervo certamente (sono solito mangiare questo tipo di carni selvatiche e sono totalmente differenti). La polenta compresa nel piatto era accettabile ma comunque poco adatta rispetto al prezzo del piatto. Abbiamo dovuto richiedere il pane perché non ci era stato servito ma presuppongo fosse una dimenticanza e non una mancanza critica da parte del personale che confermò essere cordiale.
I prezzi sono piuttosto elevati ma compatibili con la location.

We left the chef free to choose with the 8-course menu, the result: great quality, variety and attention to detail. Obviously also super full.

25/11/2023: Sicuramente la cucina è degna di nota…alcuni piatti emergono su altri ma nessuno negativo…il servizio è cordiale e accorto…la maîtresse è sola e si deve occupare sia del consiglio del vino, che dell’accoglienza, che del servizio e spiegazioni piatti in sala. Il mio modesto consiglio da esperto del settore è di inserire una persona esperta di vino che possa aiutare la maîtresse durante la serata soprattutto quando il ristorante è pieno, visto la qualità e le aspettative richieste. Carta vino sicuramente da rivedere perché non in linea con la qualità del locale e della cucina. Chi ama il vino come me si aspetta in questa tipologia di ristoranti gourmet di ritrovare etichette ricercate e anche qualche vecchia annata e non solo poche bottiglie e commerciali. Aiuterebbe la voglia di ritornarci. Lascio comunque 5 stelle perché la serata è stata molto gradevole e non mi piace denigrare chi si impegna nel nostro settore.

07/05/2024: Terrible food. I ordered „octopus with potatoes” and got something gummy, cut into small pieces. The only good thing were potatoes… Even the lettuce next to it was not seasoned at all, no olive oil. When asked for the check the waitress just ignored us and started cleaning and singing. 🤡

04/04/2024: In this review I only evaluate the restaurant as we did not stay in the hotel. We stayed at Easter. Easter menu consisting of 1 starter: pleasant, Irish meat tartare on an artichoke base, smoked buffalo mozzarella in basil oil. From here on, in my opinion we are not there. 2 first courses, a saffron risotto with scampi and asparagus. The risotto was too hard and the scampi together with the asparagus were a sort of ball placed in the center of the plate, in our opinion just taken out of the fridge as it was cold and unpleasant. Second first course, trofie with aubergine sauce with parsley emulsion. Here too, same problem as the risotto, in the sense that the parsley emulsion was placed in the center of the plate, cold as if it had been taken out of the fridge. The second course consisted of lamb ribs, radicchio with balsamic vinegar and pommes a la parisienne. Dish without infamy and without praise. Dessert: artisanal colomba with mascarpone cream and raspberries. As for the starter, all in all passable. Dirty and marked walls. Cobwebs seen in at least a couple of places. And alas, under the refrigerators in the room, you could see dirt and little attention to detail. At the table the cruet that had been made available to us in the center of the table was empty. The uncovered cheese maker. Overall, which I hope will be taken as constructive criticism, the bill was too high for the quality offered.

Better you can find something that comes close to this pizza an entirely Neapolitan excellence the pizza chef a talent and a gift of the best traditions good I recommend even just a simple marinara and then you will tell me
