Trattoria Vecchia Roma In Roma

Very impressed by this trattoria considering the price and proximity to the Colosseo. Spoke as much Italian as I could manage and staff were quick to get us a seat, and very happy to work with us across languages. Food was fresh, and delicious. I would definitely recommend it!

First, get a reservation like most places in Rome. Second, if you go on Thursday try the homemade Gnocchi! I did read some other reviews and do agree the artichoke was a tad oily as you can see from my image however it was still good but probably wouldn't order again. The bruschetta though is definitely worth it! The service was fast for an Italian sit down restaurant but we were definitely not rushed. The prices were on par for the food which we thought was great! The house red wine similar to most restaurants hit the spot and didn't break the bank.

I don't think I've ever eaten a better carbonara than the one I ate here. The portion was nice and plentiful and the seasoning was a lot, congratulations. (It was a little heavy but it was worth it). We were looked after by the boy with tattooed arms, very kind and polite, he knows how to do his job well. Update after a year: I went back and it was like the first time, really excellent carbonara, I'm already thinking about when I can go back again eheh

I visited for the first time 5 years ago and again during the coronavirus pandemic and enjoyed it so much that when I went with my wife this time, I went to introduce it to them and was very disappointed. I couldn't make a reservation, so I waited a bit and went in. I ordered the usual margarita and carbonara, but both were disappointing. The carbonara was put in a cheese container and put on fire, so it was too salty and tasteless because they didn't cook it. Margherita is a flavor you can eat just about anywhere. The final disappointment was that there were about 8 tables in the area where we were, and although we were the 3rd to come in, we were the first to order, but our food came out later than the 8th and last table, and when we complained, it seemed like our order was not placed. When we complained as if it was the same as the other one, they said they were sorry and said they would come out right away without saying anything to us, so we were very disappointed. There is no seat tax.

The food was very overrated. Had the pre fixe. Portion sizes were great the bucatini was prob the 3rd best I had on this trip and the ox stew was ok, didn’t amaze me and I am not even an Italian food snob. On top of that the bathroom didn’t have a toilet seat ? What’s this monstrosity ??

Monti district, spacious restaurant with many seats. You will find all the traditional Roman dishes. Great for an informal dinner.

The amatriciana creamed with pecorino cheese is excellent. I highly recommend it.

Trattoria Vecchia had some of my favourite pasta that I had throughout my Italy trip!! The Amatriciana and Carbonara were insanely good! The fiora di zuccha to start was equally as good!! We are going back a second time because we haven’t stopped thinking about the amatriciana pasta

Serata davvero assaj bella quella da Vecchia Roma, trattoria storica della Capitale che è propone fra le pietanze più gustose e buone della tradizione culinaria romana! Posticino spartano, grande, sempre gremito di gente, caciarone e conviviale. Personale gentile, dinamico e attento. Servizio buono. Pietanze romane proposte ottime. Discreta la mozzarella di bufala e il prosciutto crudo (devo ammettere che ho mangiato mozzarelle di bufala e prosciutti crudi più buoni). Carciofi alla romana DIVINI: abnormi, caldi e croccanti! Un capolavoro. Semplicemente OTTTIMI i tonnarelli alla grigia con carciofi! Ho trovato SQUISITO anche l’agnello panato: porzione abnorme e ottima selezione della carne, tenera e profumata. Buono anche il vino rosso della casa. Prezzi nella norma. Lo consiglio.

Buon locale con una buona cucina romana. Frequentato anche da moltissimi turisti vista la posizione ma non locale turistico. Prezzi adeguati al servizio ed alla scelta
