My wife and I, who went without a reservation, and our little Schnauzer (welcomed with pleasure by the staff and owner) waited 15 minutes in line before entering the restaurant but it was worth it

They don't accept reservations... you arrive, you queue and wait for them to call you! Very informal environment with local dishes. The pici with garlic and also those with wild boar are very good. The Volterrana tripe is excellent Courteous and helpful staff Must try 👍🏻

Typical tavern on the outskirts of the historic center of the city of Volterra. Family lunch held during the long weekend of April 25th. It may have been the turnout at lunch in the place but the food did not live up to expectations. Pici with wild boar, but the wild boar was barely noticeable in the end. Sliced ​​beef with truffle and peaches perhaps the best dish as the truffle didn't cover all the flavors and harmonized well with the cooked peaches. To try again

Abbiamo pranzato in questo tipica osteria sita nei pressi del carcere ubicato in un antico castello! Accogliente la struttura nel a sua relativa semplicità. Personale garbato ed efficiente. Bruscette di benvenuto. Ottima fiorentina e che abbiamo diviso quasi a malincuore. Buoni anche il contorno e il vino della casa. Ottimo anche il tiramisù fatto in casa. Buon rapporto qualità prezzo. Non potevamo lasciare Volterra senza il bisteccone. E che sapore, provare per credere.

Proprio quando mi stavo rassegnando a saltare la cena, perché erano ormai trascorse le dieci, passo davanti a questa trattoria e vedo all'interno degli animati avventori. Non mi fanno nessun problema per l'orario, mangio una squisita ribollita, mi portano olio e vino in simpatici contenitori che fanno atmosfera di casa. Mentre vado alla cassa, mi fermo ad ammirare una moto da competizione, esposta nel corridoio. Con spirito un po' troppo toscano, scherzano con me dicendomi che mi avevano dato una pietanza avanzata, rifiutata da clienti precedenti. Un punto lo tolgo per questa battuta che non ho apprezzato.

06/04/2024: The food was actually good and the service too. Unfortunately, a group of young people came to eat and the noise level was really unpleasant and it was almost impossible to have a conversation. In addition, you have to pay separately at the entrance and wait in line there. It's more like a canteen. We wanted to leave quickly.
19/03/2024: Dinner was very good. We had no reservation on a Tuesday. It was very busy. Luckily there was one table available. If ever in the neighbourhood have dinner there.

05/04/2024: The Hostaria "Il Granaio" is a real culinary jewel just outside Pisa. Having received plenty of recommendations from friends and family, our recent visit confirmed its reputation for excellence. Extraordinary quality of the dishes offered. The homemade pasta was excellent but the real star of the evening was the mucco pisano. The meat is served with skill and passion, and every bite is an explosion of authentic and intense flavours, which reflect the love and attention dedicated to the selection of ingredients and the preparation of the dishes. The Hostaria "Il Granaio" has truly proven to be an embassy of traditional Tuscan cuisine. The wine selection on offer was equally impressive. It is evident that Hostaria "Il Granaio" dedicates the same care and attention to its wine list as it does to the gastronomic menu. The attention to the customer demonstrated by the staff is courteous, professional and attentive to every need, guaranteeing impeccable service from start to finish. Cozy and pleasant atmosphere, excellent quality/price ratio. We highly recommend all lovers of good food and good wine who wish to savor the best of the Tuscan tradition to stop by this fantastic place.
