This restaurant should have higher reviews. Their food is the best we’ve had in a week in Florence. They have the wine window for your pictures/videos. Their truffle pasta and truffle carpaccio were our favorite dishes. Staff is very friendly (let’s be honest it’s not always friendly in Florence)…..highly recommend

Busy and popular restaurant with a famous wine window for streetside wine purchases. You will need a reservation. Lots of tourists were eating here, but the food is good and the location is very central. Cacio e pepe was fantastic. Good onion soup as well. There is a ground floor seating area and a downstairs wine cellar seating area.

good food but not extraordinary, a bit expensive like everything in florence , too much people so after 20 minutes that we ordered they told me that they lost the order and should tell them again however not a bad experience. (outside they have the wine window where you can order a glass of wine by knocking there little door)

I was really expecting to like this place based on the reviews. First of all, excellent friendly service. The space was intimate, cozy and well decorated. But, the food fell flat for me. The salmon carpaccio to start was…fine. Then a pasta dish with clams next. The highlight of the meal was without question the tiramisu. Overall it was a fine experience but absolutely fell short of expectations.

This was our last night in Florence and we wanted to get a drink at the window... very cool experience... I highly recommend it. We had heard good things about the restaurant, so we made reservations for dinner as well. We were not prepared for just how wonderful the food was going to be. My wife now tells people if given a choice for a last meal... it will be the filet mignon from this restaurant. It is not a restaurant to be recommended... it is a restaurant that all others should be measured against. Don't miss this opportunity if you find yourself in Florence.

I really wanted to love this place but I didn’t. The carpaccio was yummy but everything else was pretty meh. I had to add large amounts of salt and pepper to everything. The wine was very good. I had one fabulous meal in Italy so far and I keep hoping for another. This wasn’t it.

I’ve know this small osteria since several decades. Having lived in Florence in the 80s and 90s, so many things have changed since then. So it is wonderful to discover what hasn’t changed. The Osteria has evolved. A terrace was added and the basement seating was expanded. The atmosphere is more elegant now. But overall one finds the same subtle hospitality, wonderful Tuscan dishes and excellent wines to accompany them. A must when you’re in Florence.

Knock knock. The small window opens and you place your wine order. A few minutes later the window opens and out comes your wine. As the world goes by you sip your wine on the street - a great Florence tradition!!

27/03/2024: Still an excellent place, but slightly less excellent than before. The prices are excessive for some dishes. However, excellence for fried foods, for example brain, and ribollita.

26/05/2024: The maximum score. We have been coming to Borgo San Lorenzo regularly for 15 years. We are huge fans of good food and wine and thought we knew the best restaurants in the area by now. How is it possible that we kept walking past this fantastic place in the historic center? The restaurant is located slightly back, under the hotel of the same name (different owner). The entrance is very modest. Only once you are inside, past the reception, do you see how much love and care the restaurant has been decorated with. Everything has been thought of: nice chairs, beautiful glasses, ... We were surprised. And we hadn't even eaten yet! The dishes came with matching wine, served by the glass. We enjoyed an amuse bouche, starter, main course and dessert. It is really high dining - gastronomy - for the price of an average Dutch restaurant. So good and tasteful. Fantastic host and chef. If you are staying in Borgo San Lorenzo or nearby: dine here at least once during your holiday! Celebrate your birthday, the first or last evening, the sun or life itself here. We will certainly do that from now on!
14/04/2024: A magical place. Where you can feel the warmth of home, go on a culinary journey, dare I say mystical, feel the love and passion that lie behind the works on plate. Highly recommended for lovers of the different, because not everyone would understand the feeling that binds the viewer to these paintings of colors and flavors worth eating. Thank you for the passion you transmit.
