This place has a lot going for it and if it's not located in Italy I'll probably give it a 4 star for food. Let me explain.
I'm sure a lot of people are attracted to this location by its high rating but I think in terms of everything, it's decent so I wouldn't call it exceptional in any way as implied by the high rating. I wish the menu has better English translation than that given by Google translate.
Food wise there are some innovation but the result is not as delicious as it could have been.
The Gamberoni Terra a Mare (Land and Sea Prawns) is basically a pair of fried prawns in thin cheesy string wrap. I don't think it tastes better than well done tempura shrimps as the cheesy coating overwhelmed the prawn flavors.
Tagliolini Mare Nostrum ai crostacei (noodle with shrimps) has a pile of raw shrimps with a pomodoro base filled with some carrots, squash, and bay shrimps. The bay shrimps should be cleaned better as some still have the black "vein" but the biggest problem is that sause doesn't have enough tomato taste which would help neutralizing the fishy taste. The "squash" veggie is tad too bitter which is disonnant with the sauce. I liked the small pile of raw shrimps as it adds a unique flavor but it's not enough to offset the rest of dish.
Service is ok and you get your choice of sparkling or still water but food takes awhile so don't come here if you want a no frill dinner. The place is not big and it wasn't busy for me at 730pm on a Friday. I like that the waiter didn't come unnecessarily asking how are the food which I prefer. There are about same number of seatings outside or inside but don't come in large groups.
I applaud the innovations it tries to do but taste is not better than simpler fare I've had outside of Italy. For Italian food in Italy it's not good enough for a 4 star.

We found this fantastic Seafood restaurant away from the noise of Trastevere and we loved it. So much so that almost every day we went for dinner or lunch. Exquisite dishes with signature cuisine. The prices are great for the quality of the product they offer. Don't miss it if you are in Rome.

The food was fantastic and our server Marco was warm, funny and very helpful in selecting the right dishes and wines for us. A wonderful neighbourhood restaurant which I would highly recommend. We had the tuna tataki and octopus, both of which were excellent.

What a night. Really appreciated the incredibly warm service and the tartare was really something special. We really loved the entire raw platter and the main courses of octopus and tuna as well.

Amazing seafood in Trastevere.
Great location away from the usual evening hustle and bustle of Trastevere.
Our family was tired after a long day at Ostia and we were wanting seafood after being at the beach all day. We were seated right away and directed to use an electronic menu. At first, we thought it was Italian only (and we were having trouble deciphering all the different kinds of fish on the menu), but we found the English toggle and it was easy from there.
We had 4 different dishes consisting of smoked salmon, prawns, swordfish, and a mixed grill. All were cooked to perfection and delicious.

We decided to dine here due to the positive reviews. However, the wait times were a bit too long and the portions quite small for the price. Additionally, we found the selection and concept confusing. Even in a seafood restaurant, there should be at least one non-fish or non-seafood alternative. On the positive side, the food was very tasty and the staff were very friendly.

Last Sunday (Palm Sunday) we went for lunch at this small fish restaurant, attracted by the positive reviews left for the place. I must say that they are all true and definitely deserved.
There were 4 of us (the Apulian table) and we found the interior small but well furnished and structured, in addition to the seats outside under the gazebo which are really nice.
The level of cleanliness of the room is excellent, including the bathroom, one of the places that generally gets dirty more or more quickly.
We ate like a dream, starting from the appetizers to the first courses (I had tagliolini with cod and pecorino crumble, very good and balanced) up to the desserts they produced (space Sicilian cassata, very good).
Among the second courses, I recommend the mixed one, where there is also a piece of sliced tuna in which you can savor all its goodness, also appreciating the cooking of the tuna itself which is very difficult to get right.
What all the dishes have in common, as you can understand, is the freshness of the ingredients, their quality and their goodness, as well as the chefs' ability to enhance the raw material, which is certainly very delicate.
I underline one very important thing: the restaurant has the "Friends of the Sea" brand, that is, a certification that tracks a marine supply chain that respects aquatic biodiversity. So, if you come here, surely the fish is not only of excellent quality but is also certified to respect the environment, which is very important.
Very important note: the waiter who served us was always very nice and indeed decidedly kind and attentive to our needs, with whom we could joke and make the most of our experience.
This, certainly, was a positive note because I always appreciate a convivial relationship with the staff, especially in what is supposed to be a seaside inn.

If you are looking for seafood in Rome, then there is no better place than Mare Nostrum located in Trastevere. The Sicilian influence is evident in the innovative dishes which are all made with fresh ingredients. The spaghetti with vongole (clams) was the best I ever had! All food was delicious including including the cannolo with flavoured ricotta cream we had for dessert. There is also an extensive wine list to choose from. Prices are very reasonable. The restaurant is very cozy with a relaxed ambiance. Marco the very friendly and super attentive host provided some excellent recommendations and made sure our dining experience was even more enjoyable. A truly hidden gem.

Sconto thefork regolarmente applicato!
