good spritzes and plentiful appetizers, average food, top waiter.
the spritzes cost €6 so honest, the meat costs €16/20, a little excessive for the actual quality. However, I highly recommend the aperitifs here.

Arrived a little later than we'd wanted to in Ferrara. Many restaurants were closed after lunch service but Leon D'Oro was open and they ordered us a great table outside. Our server, who has worked there for 58 years, was amazing and took great care of us. We really enjoyed the food. Drinks were great. Deserts were outstanding. We will definitely come back the next time we're in Ferrara

Absolutely wanted to try the local specialty called Pampetato and did it at Leon d’Oro with a nice cup of coffee.
Even though this not the most delicate pastry on earth it tastes quite good and makes the perfect quick break for a long day around Ferrara.
Will come back to try the torta tenerina!

We ate onion soup and Insalata “Marchino”. While the onion soup was tasty, the salad was very disappointing. Perfect meat placed on lettuce without any seasoning. The menu doesn't mention arugula, and there was 1/3 of it. Poorly. Moreover, pigeons flying over and on the tables, leaving behind guano, are not the best showcase of the restaurant. Besides, it's quite expensive.

Food is a security, always without fail. The only problem is when there is a large influx of people, the kitchen slows down a little and today, despite the skill and friendliness of the waiters, the service of an appetizer and a first course lasted about 2 hours. Fortunately, a quiet environment and comfortable seats allow you to manage the wait.

Ci siamo capitati per caso, dato che era martedì (2 gennaio) e martedì a Ferrara chiudono tutti i ristoranti. Non so quale sia il senso di tenere tutto chiuso con la città piena di turisti, ma questo ristorante, evidentemente, è più avanti degli altri ed è rimasto aperto (in competizione con l'unica alternativa che era il mcdonald). Ovviamente ne ha sofferto un po' perchè alcuni piatti alla sera erano esauriti, e anche i camerieri incominciavano ad essere esauriti, ma in questa follia di ristoranti chiusi, si può capire. Cucina tradizionale fatta con cura, locale pulito e curato.

Ci siamo ritornati con degli amici ed io prendo sempre il pasticcio ferrarese! È delizioso ed abbondante! Lo adoro! Abbiamo assaggiato anche il tagliere di affettati e burrata buoni!
