La Bettola In Aci castello

After wandering around a bit, my friend and I decided to enter this little place located right on Piazza del Castello. The outdoor tables were full, so we took a seat inside. We ordered a mixed fried starter, penne with sardine sauce, spaghetti with squid ink. Satisfied.

Too bad...... we stayed on the evening of May 1st, very tired staff (the owners I think) not even a smile..... too bad. We were on holiday.....and we arrived late, very friendly on the phone but not on site, during dinner we felt like a burden. Good mixed starter, pot prawns that have gone bad (I've been sick for 3 days) and fantastic first course with sea urchins! Even though we didn't even smile compliments. They ruined our evening and to think that we are only beginning the season. I don't recommend it, I understand everything but you don't behave like that and I won't say anything else. I count 90 euros so not bad for them. I recommend just a smile......

A small place in front of the castle that offers simple and tasty fish dishes. There are few tables and space is limited, so it is advisable to book during the busiest periods.

Having ended up here by chance, after seeing reviews and photos of the dishes, passing by we convinced ourselves to stop... the view of the castle and overlooking the greenery and the castle square were priceless. The mixed starter is truly exceptional. Of the 8 different tastings, each one will leave you amazed for the quality and the different nuance given by the chef to each bite. Excellent Octopus Salad. Fresh, tender, delicious product. Excellent swordfish pasta with pistachio. Sea bass fillet in a delicate pistachio crust, it really made you feel the flavor of the fish without covering it. Quality, rightly, comes at a price. 2 starters, 1 first course, 1 second course, 1 glass of wine, water, 2 coffees, service: €80 well deserved.

Quality and location come at a price. The food is good and the place is nice, with a nice view even if during the day, outdoors, you have the feeling of being a bit too much in the middle of the street.

I returned to Aci Castello after many years and thought that the La bettola restaurant had closed, but with great pleasure I learned that it had moved to Piazza Castello. A splendid setting in which to enjoy the chef's dishes. The various and tasty appetizers are good, not to mention the first courses and to finish, a fresh fry, the icing on the cake. And speaking of cake, you can end the meal with a dessert or a lemon sorbet and as George says..... What else?
