In Dao bistrot was born in the place that hosted the Golden Dragon for 4 decades, an old-style Chinese restaurant that has always stood out in the Roman panorama of Chinese restaurants for the quality and innovation brought over the years to the menu by its owner Jianguo Shu. Also in this case, Jianguo Shu felt the need to innovate the format and created the bistro in the wake of his Dao Restaurant. Inside the restaurant there is a familiarity with the interior design of the Dao Restaurant, perhaps the design was entrusted to the same studio. The interior is very elegant and comfortable with soft lights and spacious tables, sufficiently distant from each other. There is also the possibility of sitting outside on an elegant veranda. Coming to the kitchen, the menu has also been revolutionized compared to the Golden Dragon, new dishes but with a smaller number of dishes, as befits a bistro. We started with a Chinese pizza with fermented vegetables and meat. A kind of pizza filled with a dough similar to puff pastry. The meat inside, I would say pork, is very tasty and goes well with the vegetables, an initial appetizer that is perfect for starting things off. Then we tried the Ji Rou Shou Zhua Bing, a crispy bao filled with chicken and Chinese mushrooms, onion and oyster sauce. Unfortunately the crunchy pastry that wrapped the filling was a little too greasy, despite this the filling was very good, dominated by the presence of the mushrooms and the flavor of the oyster sauce. We arrive at one of the highlights of the menu. Steamed bao with duck breast inside, Ya Rou Jiabao. As soon as the bao paste comes into contact with the mouth, it dissolves without the need to chew it and gives way to the juicy duck breast, with a very thin external crust that goes very well with the moderate sweetness of the oyster sauce. A true pleasure that you wouldn't want to end. But you move from one delight to another with extreme ease, the mix of 8 different types of ravioli is served. Of the nine types offered in the mix there are 8, presumably because the ninth type is ravioli in broth. The mix offers a ravioli for each type, one better than the other. In each of them the ingredient that characterizes it stands out, ranging from chicken, to prawns, to vegetables, tofu, pork and prawns together, all of generous dimensions. If you want to get an idea of ​​the spectacle of these ravioli, the choice of mix is ​​perfect. Having still a little space we also tried the Guoba. A special preparation based on puffed rice with octopus, chicken, prawns, Chinese mushrooms, onion, carrots, courgettes and spinach. Served in a hot cast iron wok, it's a real specialty. The crunchiness of the rice goes very well with all the ingredients, tasty and well blended together, cooked in such a way as to enhance the freshness and quality of the raw materials. Coming to the price, I would say that it is absolutely in line with the proposal, two of us, sharing the dishes described, with a beer and a mineral water, spent €55. Highly recommended place where we will return soon.

Wonderful experience. Modern venue with a formal but simple atmosphere. Soft lights and large tables. Original dishes and very well prepared. The service retains this cheesy attitude of bringing all the dishes at the same time, which is typical of Asian restaurants. Overall, however, they make up for it. Highly recommended: Vegetable Tempura, Fried Ravioli and desserts

Elegant Chinese restaurant with great food and quick service. Tried it for lunch without a reservation. The menu is à la carte with some special daily menus that you can find on the blackboard at the entrance. Very kind staff. Very good courses, much higher level than average. The place is tastefully furnished, spacious tables and very clean facilities. Suitable for different occasions, from group dinner or romantic evening. Parking in the area is a nightmare but a little further on there is an hourly garage. Highly recommended.

One of the best Chinese restaurants I've tried so far! Nice environment, fast service, excellent food

Different from the usual Chinese restaurants because the quality is much higher and everything is delicious... There is less choice and the final price is higher than the classic Chinese restaurant... It therefore depends on what you want... If you want to spend as in a classic Chinese no but if you want to enjoy excellent quality Chinese cuisine yes... Very close to the Bologna metro and therefore also very convenient

sicuramente uno dei migliori nel suo genere. Piatti leggermente più articolati, ambiente curato, personale gentile , portate abbondanti. Ma… pavimento appiccicoso da restarci attaccati, pollo fritto (ben asciutto) più tipo KFC che da cinese, verdure bisunte, anatra da abbandonare. Altri piatti, decisamente migliori, come spaghetti saltati, ravioli, involtini freschi, ma nulla di così imperdibile.

Ottimo locale, molto curato e ristrutturato di recente. Il primo ristorante cinese che serve poche cose, alcune anche diverse dai soliti e soprattutto di qualità. Atmosfera particolare e curata, servizio veloce ed efficiente (siamo stati a pranzo). Ottimi prezzi. Decisamente consigliato per provare una versione diversa dal solito ristorante cinese e molto piu ricercata.
