Forte Sorgnano In Gualdo cattaneo

I was the photographer of a small wedding here in this splendid location and, what can I say, a jewel set between a breathtaking view, the silence of nature and an expanse of stars.

We had our wedding here in August with 55 guests coming from the UK. It was absolutely perfect in every way and all of our guests had nothing but good things to say about Sorgnano. The wedding was from a Monday to a Friday, however the time flew by as everyone had a wonderful time. The castle itself is the most incredible location for a wedding, regardless of the weather, and the food is to die for. When we went for our menu tasting back in April my eyes literally watered when I tasted the sliced angus. Aside from the wedding food, the breakfast, lunch and the buffet dinner (we requested this) were incredible and the portions were huge, nobody was ever left wanting. Marco and his staff were wonderful hosts and made us and our guests feel at home the entire time. I can't thank them all enough and my wife and I will never forget our wedding week.

Forte Sorgnano is an incredibly peaceful place to visit. Nestled in huge natural reserve, you are immersed in nature. On a hike through the woods, we saw both a porcupine and a wild boar, as well as wild hare. We’ve seen in some reviews that people complain about the road but it was perfectly fine to drive on. It’s made of hard packed rock and our car traversed easily. It’s absolutely worth the drive to get away from the packs of people visiting more touristy areas. All of the rooms are redone tastefully, it’s rustic but very very comfortable, the food served on site is both reasonably priced and superb and the owner interesting and kind. In addition to being very family friendly, the refurbished Castle is a beautiful place for a wedding. Come visit. You won’t regret it!

We celebrated my son's wedding at Forte Sorgnano last weekend. It was AMAZING! Marco and his team were just incredible - relaxed but with incredible attention to detail. Everything was perfect and it exceeded all our expectations. Thank you so much. We will never forget it xxx
