18/05/2024: We came across Calicantus by accident, having spent four hours wandering around Lodi, arriving about 30 minutes before closing after lunch. This was no problem for the owners and though we were the only couple in the place, another couple and then a single person came to eat not long after we'd been seated. We ordered margherita and fungi pizze which we saw being baked - the best pizza we've had for a long time with just the right crispiness to the crust and a great balance of tomato, cheese and mushroom. They were huge and therefore great value for money. The restaurant itself is a short way from the medieval centre with modern decor, The staff were really pleasant but it's hard to comment on 'atmosphere' because I don't like noisy restaurants but we were made to feel really welcome. We didn't get to see all of Lodi so we'll be returning and we'll go back to Calicantus, too
