This friendly and very reasonably priced restaurant is a pleasure to visit. The staff make any visit like you’re popping down your local, they recognise and welcome you and make it an easy place to visit again and again.

Thanks to the guide books, the tourist crowds are waiting in line at Roscioli, the upscale food store cum restaurant. It is pricey and increasingly fully booked. A few blocks away, on the edge of Campo di Fioriis is this somewhat more blue collar salumeria. They have been in business since 1919,and have plenty of fine meats, cheeses, etc. They will even make you a decent sandwich and you an eat it in a simple room in the back. It may not be as fancy, but it is the real deal. Also, you can duck the hyper touristy establishments around the square.

24/03/2024: We ate here and were astounded by the size of the menu, the quality of the food and the service. The hubs said his shrimp pizza might have been best meal ever. We all left very satisfied with what we had.

23/05/2024: A more than kind welcome and a very pleasant atmosphere. I ate an unsurpassed tartare, bruschetta with ragù and meatballs which as a Neapolitan I really appreciated, a taste of tonnarello cheese and pepper with the addition of crunchy bacon, meat cooked on the spot on stone which I didn't have time to photograph because all my senses were overwhelmed by the taste and finally some revisited desserts: a sacher for boom and a pistachio cheesecake for wow. At the table I noticed a wonderful Sicilian oil among the condiments and the sauces accompanying the dishes made with home-made ingredients had wonderful colors and aromas. Impeccable service with a quick, light but detailed explanation of each dish. Ps: we unforgivably changed our mind on an order but it was sorted out in an instant and with a smile. Wherever you are, every kilometer is worth it.
