Excellent Florentine steak, courteous and fast service, plentiful and good starter... the grilled bacon served during the starter is worth the trip 🔝🔝🔝

A single building in the hills of Mugello, an hour outside of Florence, Antica Osteria di Nandone has been serving guests since 1909. A destination not only as a result of its location at the top of unlit and winding roads, but also due to the Restaurant’s inclusion on the “World’s 101 Best Steak Restaurants,” it is inside the converted home that fourth generation owner Paolo Mugnai carefully cooks Bistecca alla Fiorentina plus antipasti and sides served family-style amidst rustic confines. A historic eatery on the road that goes from Scarperia to the Giogo Pass, not something one simply happens upon, it is for just €45 that dishes arrive as ready along with house Wine and the sort of service one might expect when dining at a good friend’s house. Utilizing only local ingredients, particularly adult Cows from nearby farms, T-Bones arrive well marbled with a crust of Salt and Pepper cooked over smoldering embers and a generous ring of fat that attests to a month or more of dry-aging.

Paolo and his great passion make the difference. The arrival was delayed an hour due to an accident, he waited for us and let us try a superlative dinner. Welcome starters that I have never found so good, the mouth-watering Florentine steak, and the final desserts and liqueurs that made everything perfect. Great Paolo and thank you!

For me, I go there every now and then, it remains one of the very few restaurants that offers good fish at a good price. (Das muss sein wenn man frischen Fisch in Cesenatico essen will und ist nicht teuer!!)

Consigliato da amici e colleghi fiorentini ci siamo andati per cena infrasettimanale. Il posto è storico visto che è aperto dal 1908 e dentro l'arredamento lo fa notare. Appena arrivati abbiamo trovato la tavola già imbandita con ottimi antipasti (tartine, ciccioli, cavolo stufato e aglio marinato ottimo) poi lonza e pancetta abbrustolita. Dopodichè sua maestà la fiorentina cotta esattamente accanto al nostro tavolo il che ha contribuito alla salivazione. Tagliere di dolci finale veramente buonissimi e set di grappe. Personale e proprietà professionalissimi e molto cortesi. Prezzo giusto. Da tornarci assolutamente.

Siamo stati in questa tipica osteria senza prenotazione e il proprietario è stato tanto gentile da farci accomodare e trovare spazio per noi. Ambiente familiare e cordiale, molto carino in quanto in fondo alla sala c'è un braciere molto grande dove il proprietario cuoce la carne con tanto amore. Vi consiglio assolutamente di fermarvi e mangiare la loro carne perchè è davvero buona!!
